Karma Film is a Canadian film and television production focusing on filmmaker driven stop motion animation, documentary, and live action dramatic series & feature film. Anand Ramayya, President, is an Indo-Canadian filmmaker that grew up in a film family and in 2002 founded the company to facilitate director driven content.  

Karma Film has produced more than 50 hours of film and television including Gemini award winners (Canada’s Emmy) Wapos Bay, children’s stop motion animated series, and documentary Cosmic Current.   In 2013, KarmaFilm released documentary Who Killed Gandhi? (featured at MIPDoc and Sunnyside of the Doc 2014) feature thriller Ferocious (D: Robert Cuffley) and Canadian Screen Award nominated Rufus (D: David Schultz).  Ramayya is currently in postproduction on season two of stop motion animated series Guardians Evolution.

Born and raised in Canada with roots in India, Ramayya has produced four projects on the Indian subcontinent. Karma Film now operates offices in Canada and India to facilitate coproduction opportunities and a growing slate of original productions.

Ramayya has served a term as President of the Saskatchewan Motion Picture Association and is an alumni of the Canadian Film Centre, National Screen Institute and Trans-Atlantic Partners Program where he received training in film finance from the Erich Pommer institut in Berlin.

Kelly Balon, Director of Development for Karma Film, works closely with producers, screenwriters and market partners on script development, financing, and marketing of film, television and interactive media properties for the international marketplace.  He works with filmmakers across a diverse slate of documentary, dramatic feature film & television series, and transmedia properties.

He recently produced documentary feature and iPad app Who Killed Gandhi? (2013) for Vision TV (Canada), selected for Telefilm Canada’s Best in Canada Showcase at MIPDOC and Sunnyside of the Doc 2014.   Since 2008 he has overseen the development of KarmaFilm’s slate including feature film Rufus and Ferocious, stop motion animated series & TV movie Wapos Bay, series Guardians Evolution, webseries My Lupine Life and Who Killed Gandhi?  

Joining Karma Film in 2008, Kelly’s versatile skills extend his responsibilities beyond development activities into various roles during production and postproduction.  A former talent agent and event producer, Kelly Balon is a Vancouver Film School graduate (Entertainment Business Management).
