We have a little farm that depends on livestock production to survive and today are suffering through extreeeeemly low prices. When BSE hit Europe health officials in Canada had to be aware of the cause and did nothing to prevent it.
Lost markets of yesterday could have made it much easier to weather the economic downturn of today. Instead, in our little neighborhood at least 5000 cows have been sent to market and there are no replacements.
Perhaps down the road, Canada’s cheap food policy of yesterday and today will result in the price of a fast food hamberger costing the price of a t-bone steak. All the MSG in the world won’t draw youngsters to enjoy these much loved meals of today with perhaps mixed blessings.
